NEW DAFT PUNK SINGLE REPORTEDLY DUE NEXT MONTH

New Daft Punk single reportedly due next month
Update: We just spoke so Tsugi, who claim that “the answer will be on the next issue”. Note: “on” rather than “in”, which implies that it may well be on a cover CD. Pitchfork have, as of tonight, posted that there won’t be a new song – still no public word from camp Daft Punk though (nor is there likely to be). Guess we’ll find out some Tsugi’s next issue.

French electronic magazine Tsugi have claimed that a new Daft Punk track will drop in July.
We’re taking all current Daft Punk news with a pinch of salt: hysteria about their next album is at an all-time high, and we’ve already seen fake new tracks uploaded to YouTube and Soundcloud (and surely Bangalter’s not really soundtracking the new Lindsey Lohan movie, right?). This, however, is pretty interesting. Tsugi’s new issue includes information on a Daft Punk track title ‘Renoma Street’ – a Parisian cafe, we’re told – and when pressed about release info on Twitter, the magazine’s editor responded with “21/7″. Fingers crossed, eh?
There’s also talk that the song will be given away with a CD packaged with Tsugi‘s next issue [via Stoney Roads]. Now, obviously this could all be a wind-up – after Human After All leaked, the duo are supposed to be very cautious when it comes to press and new material. But again, fingers crossed it’s not.
What we do know is that there is a new Daft Punk album on the way, and that Chic’s Nile Rodgers, Giorgio Moroder and Paul Williams have all been working with the pair. It’ll be their first album since 2010′s Tron: Legacy soundtrack.
